About me
INTRODUCTION
Hi! My name is Drake Harris and I’m currently playing on the NCAA team at UC Santa Cruz. I grew up in Palos Verdes, so I’m well aware of how hard it can be to find affordable youth volleyball opportunities. I’ve been very fortunate to have parents who introduced me to volleyball at a young age and made so many sacrifices to keep me involved.
VOLLEYBALL EXPERIENCE
Volleyball has been a huge part of my life since I started playing Club at 8 years old. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to be coached by some world-class volleyball players and coaches. Below are some of my experiences and accomplishments that shape who I am as a player:
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School 4-year Varsity starter for indoor and beach, two-time MVP
Starting outside hitter on the Santa Cruz NCAA team
2025 Indoor All-American, among 11 others who all went D1
Several Beach National Team Development Program appearances, ages 14-18
Several Indoor National Team Development Program appearances, ages 15-18
2nd place finish in CIF 2025 division 1 for Beach (PVPHS)
2nd place finish in CIF 2025 Division 2 for Indoor, MVP (PVPHS)
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I've spent 5 years coaching youth volleyball players alongside very experienced coaches. During my experience with beach volleyball summer camps, I learned how to make drills that encourage the most technical growth while keeping kids fully engaged with high energy and competitiveness.
In addition to beach camps, I've spent time coaching youth sports throughout Palos Verdes. I coached for a season in PVYBL and volunteered at Bruce Myhre's soccer camp, giving me experience working with young athletes of different ages, skill levels, and backgrounds. I also have my CPR and First Aid certification, so you can trust that your kids will be safe under my supervision.
WHY I STARTED THIS PROGRAM
Growing up in Palos Verdes, I always felt like there was a huge lack of volleyball camps and clinics close to where I lived. Redondo was the closest option for any of my practices, and when I was younger there were very limited opportunities in PV.
My main goal with this program is to make it easier for families in Palos Verdes to introduce their kids to volleyball. I’ve seen enough kids fall in love with volleyball after starting to confidently say that it’s likely that yours will too. I want young athletes to have the opportunity to experience the benefits of volleyball without having to travel long distances or commit to expensive programs.
